Badlands Survival Check List

Tent, Shade i.e. tarp/poles/rope/stakes, Sleeping bag, Sheets/blankets, Pillow, Deodorant, Other personal items like Sunscreen/chap stick, Flashlight/batteries, Lantern with fuel/mantles, Pocket knife, Extra batteries/bulbs, Bug repellant/candles, Canteen/water bottle, plan to bring a gallon of water per person per day, there will be bottled water available at the Slip Disc Concessions stand, along with other drinks such as juice, tea, coffee, and assorted snacks. Maps/directions, Money/ID/credit card/quarters, Camp chairs, First aid kit, Hand wipes, bring a basic first aid kit. Wear sunscreen and sunglasses. You can get sunburn in a very short period of time even on overcast days. Protect your eyes from the strong ultraviolet rays of the sun. Be careful around water. Watch your step and don't take chances, do not drink the water from the white river. Pay attention to weather conditions. It can change very quickly. Be prepared and act in anticipation of severe weather. Keep an eye on each other. Plan ahead and prepare. Know the regulations and special concerns for the area. If you have a question feel free to ask a crew member.

when cooking, Do not operate stove or store fuel containers around another heat source. Only operate the stove in open, well ventilated areas. Never use the stove in a tent or a confined area. Bring enough food to eat even though there is concessions. Replenish your ice often. Keep your food cold at all times to avoid food spoilage and food poisoning. Repackage food to minimize waste.

Dispose of Waste Properly Pack it in, pack it out. Inspect your campsite and rest areas for trash or spilled foods. Pack out all trash, leftover food, and litter. Leave What You Find. Preserve the past: examine, but do not touch, cultural or historic structures and artifacts. Leave rocks, plants and other natural objects as you find them. Avoid introducing or transporting non-native species. Do not build structures, or dig trenches. Respect Wildlife
Observe wildlife from a distance. Do not follow or approach them. Never feed animals. Feeding wildlife damages their health, alters natural behaviors, and exposes them to predators and other dangers. Protect wildlife and your food by storing rations and trash securely. Control pets at all times, or leave them at home.

Use your common sense when participating in outdoor activities.
Always be prepared for the unexpected. Do not take unnecessary chances. Do not be careless. Think before you act. Never approach wild animals. They may look cute and harmless enough but they are very unpredictable and can be very territorial and protective. Always be alert and aware of your surroundings. In most cases, the animals are more afraid of us and will run away. Do not attempt to feed wild animals. Most injuries occur when people try to feed them. Keep your food safely stored away or hang it from a tree. Do not keep food in your tent

Look out for snakes, spiders and other critters. Watch where you are walking, be careful when picking up sticks or rocks and look around before taking a seat. Again, snakes are usually more afraid of us, but if they feel threatened or if you make sudden movements they may strike. Stay calm and slowly move away from them.

Other insects such as bees, ants, ticks, mosquitoes, flies etc. should not be taken lightly. Not only can they be annoying but they can cause quite a bit of pain and discomfort. Many people have severe allergic reactions to their bites and need to carry necessary medical supplies or seek medical attention. Again be aware of your surroundings.

Dear Music Supporter,

Thank you for being . With The First Annual Badlands Electronic Music Festival, we hope to spread the concept of actual promotion and to build the most amazing Promoter Network and DJ Circuit ever in the history of technology, to sustain our own economy, and to preserve the celebration of life through Electronic Music and Dance, on at least a National level, if not a Universal level. Another concept of this event is to get people together to bring the right message; I feel that true Promotion, Cooperation, Organization, and Respect on this scale is needed to retain the security of knowing that we can come together as a family of music makers and lovers, and experience three days of Harmony with Mother Nature, and 48 hours of non stop music of every kind imaginable. Actual Promotion of, and Cooperation between the Organizers, Talent, Crews, Volunteers, and The Body of the People is essential to the mix, saving our rights and keeping today's Music Culture alive and vibrant. Information is power, and our numbers can not be beat. Just think if every marijuana smoker in the country put one one hundredth of the effort into voting for marijuana reform, that they do into searching for hours for the next available black market drug dealer to rip them off, it would have been decriminalized if not legalized 15 years ago! The fact is that WE THE PEOPLE are in charge of the system. Life is brought to us by free will. We can establish principles in taking the responsibility to use our Unlimited Recourses to work Together with the rest of the Music world to accomplish one Goal:

The Preservation of music, Our Selves, Our Right to gather, to make music, to dance, and to be equal as people, to work together as a family utilizing the power , speed, and grace of internet communication ! To know the importance of being part of and maintaining the circle of creation, guaranteeing future generations will know the tranquility and Inner peace in the comfort, the spirituality, and healing qualities that co-exists through music.

Sincerely,
Adam Christianson

The Wall of Bass/Main Stage

"Ooooh my God! The Wall of Bass! Sliced thick and piled high, the legendary
Wall of Bass Soundsystem will gather with us. Measuring 50 feet wide, 10
feet tall and drawing over 150,000 true watts of power, The Wall is
definitive "BASS FOR YOUR FACE". For reasons of its sheer power and slurring
nature, It will be a special treat for us to hear this outdoors (where it
won't bother anyone) as this rig is usually flown in huge rock arenas or
unleashed in underground warehouses around the country. Engineered by DJ ESP
and BCK Services of Minneapolis, the Wall is the dream system for the biggest
DJs (and the lucky up-and-comers) and performers everywhere. Perfect
transparent sound, riveting bass and full-on Rave party impact. Brace
yourselves for the weekend of your life."
